Hard Lessons Learned

Coming Soon

Real SAP war stories, submitted anonymously. What went wrong, what it cost, and the one thing you would have done differently. No company names. No individuals. Just the lesson.

How it works

01

Submit anonymously — no account, no name, no company.

02

We review for identifying details and strip anything that could trace back to you or your employer.

03

Published with just the situation, what happened, and the lesson. Upvoted by the community.

Illustrative example only — not a real submission
01

Transport moved to production on a Friday afternoon. Payroll stopped running for 2,200 employees.

The BASIS team assured everyone it was "just a config change" and it would take ten minutes. It had modified a payroll schema variant. Nobody caught it until Monday morning when the first payroll run failed silently. The fix took until Wednesday.

Lesson learned

No transports to production on a Friday. No exceptions, no urgency overrides, no escalation paths around it. If it can't wait until Monday it shouldn't be a Friday afternoon transport.
